Thursday, May 21

Entry for Thursday, May 21

As the poster shows...Don't Worry...Be Happy!
Happy Thursday everyone!

Mr. and Mrs. Hamer bumped into this lovely family while out looking at the tulips near Dow's Lake.

I'm sure you recognize your classmate!

And...what a beautiful sight the tulips were...

...in all their glory...

...and amazing colours!

Each tulip bed took on a different personality!

Here's my daughter, Karen, with Lilly.

Love the white ones!

What a gorgeous day to be outside.

Lilly loved her walk through the gardens as well!

Today in History

Lindbergh successfully landed his airplane in a field in France one day after setting off from North America.

He was a brave pilot to have undertaken such a dangerous challenge.  (Some people even thought of him as being crazy to attempt such a feat!)

He became famous around the world after this solo flight!

Similarly, five years later...

...on May 21st...

...in the year 1932, Amelia Earhart successfully landed her aircraft on a field in Ireland, becoming the first female pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean!

French Learning

Mme sent me these wonder French activities yesterday morning.  They reappear today as a reminder to keep working on your French tasks.

Read the story "Au Printemps" below.

Mme Pepe wants you to sing the "Alphabet Song" in French.
Then, she has asked that you write a French word that starts with the letters A, F, M, S and V.

Mme also tells us about an excellent French website.
It is called "Duolingo".
It is free and parents need to sign up for a subscription.
Students can learn at their own pace.

They can log in at any time of day!

Math Learning

Money

Let's review the coins above.
The toonie is worth 2 dollars
The loonie is worth 1 dollar
The quarter is worth 25 cents
The dime is worth 10 cents
The nickel is worth 5 cents

Your Math Work

Draw the nickels and dimes in each row and just put the number value in them.  Add up their total amount and place it at the end of the row. Answer the questions at the bottom of the page.

Draw the nickels, dimes and quarters in each row and place their amounts in each coin.  Then count the total for each row.

We end with this prayer asking God to provide us with the strength to face the obstacles we encounter each day with strength and courage.
Have a beautiful Thursday everyone!
Mr. Hamer OCT
