Week Thirteen of School


Monday found us in the gym.


Time for warm-ups...


...including stretches...


...of many varieties.


Mr. Hamer stretches too...


...but you won't see him in the pictures...


...as his stretches...


...may look a little different...


...from those of the pupils!  Hehehe!


Then it was running time...not racing, but running.


We feel fit!


Time for some ball skills.

Before we head for home, we take a few of our class books to read.


We love to read the work from our peers.


On Tuesday evening...


...our school choir...


...dressed up in lumberjack shirts...


...for their performance...


...with Mr. Hamer...and the other choir leaders...


...at Centrepointe Theatre...


...all dressed up and ready to go...with the Rag'n'Bone Theatre Company.

For sure, we do!


We take a break before the audience is let into the auditorium.


The children enjoyed the backstage experience along with Mme Nehme.

We assembled in three rows.


There was a gap between row one and row two...


...which acted as a lane way for John to incorporate the choir into the stage performance.


On Wednesday morning, the children read Lilly's message.  We checked out some consonant digraphs...where two consonants side by side combine to create an entirely new sound.  We also learned that the same digraph can make different sounds...like "th" in "the" as opposed to "th" in "theatre."


Inclement recess brought out the STEAM toys.


This young lady enjoyed printing her name on the blackboard.


He made some nice letter "e's".


They are holding books with characters that share their same name...although one is spelled differently.

We have completed our latest class book.


It is based on our recent reading...


...of the story...


...entitled...


...Hattie and Hudson.


In the story...


...the little girl named Hattie...


...was paddling her canoe...


...out in the middle of a lake.


She was singing softly...


...to herself...


...when a giant emerged from the depths...


...drawn by the lovely music.


Initially Hattie was frightened...


...but she quickly realized...


...that this giant from the deep...


...was a friendly soul.


In fact...


...the two became fast friends.


When the townspeople spotted the giant...


...they called him a monster.


They convened a meeting...


...to determine a method to catch and dispose of the monster.


Hattie and Hudson came up with a plan to save the giant.


In the end...


...the people from the town...


...realized that Hudson indeed was a friendly giant.


Through the reading of the story, the boys and girls learned that just as you can't judge a book by its cover, you can't judge someone simply by what they look like.  It is what's inside that counts...how that someone acts and how they treat others.


Another fun story we read today in school.
