Week Nine of School

It's Halloween week......and our class is getting dressed up...

...for the occasion.

We've brought in some more banners to change up with the earlier ones we had raised to the rafters.

Spidey!

Kitty Cat.

Pumpkins.

Children of the World.

Autumn leaves and other things.

A wagon full of fall!

Choo-Choo!

Let's check in...

...on more of our...

...butterfly art.

This art lesson...

...was tied in with...

...a religion lesson...

...on the miracles of Jesus.

How did a butterfly begin its life?

Yes...as a caterpillar.

Miracles happen every day.

In one of our science lessons...

...we sat on chairs...

...around the carpet.

Mr. Hamer filled a bin with water.

He showed some other materials for the experiment...paper and a mug.

Mr. Hamer explained that the molecules in water are not as far apart as in a gas.  They are also not as close together as in a solid.

Mr. Hamer then drew a quick picture...

...using magic markers.

He crumpled up the paper...

...like you see.

Mr. Hamer then placed the paper into a cup...

...and it stayed there tucked in nicely.

Then Mr. Hamer tipped the cup upside-down...

...and he submerged it totally in water.

When he removed the cup the paper was dry!  Amazing!  It didn't get wet at all!

Mr. Hamer then showed us with further drawings how the molecules (which we cannot see) work in a solid, a liquid and a gas.

Best friends.

He's a good cube solver!

Love the Halloween shirt...

...belonging to...

...this little friend.

Check out the bracelets...

...belonging to this lovely friend.

Red and silver...

...turns to silver and red!  Too cool!

Later we worked on brainstorming...

...a class book entry...

...summarizing...

...what we did...

...during the month of September.
Have a great evening!  Mr. Hamer OCT

We enjoy visiting the learning commons.

We return our library books...

...and take out new ones.

We sit in cool chairs...

...and read for a while.

It's fun selecting books.

Speaking of books...

...our Creation Wall showcases another completed class book.

The students...

...wrote about...

...their fun trip...

...to the Museum...

...of Science and Technology.

We certainly learned...

...a great deal...

...in the classroom...

...at the museum.

A lot of our lesson...

...was of the "hands on" variety.

We remember that...

...the three states of matter...

...are...

...solids...

...liquids...

...and gases.

We also remember...

...that matter can...

...change from one state...

...to another.

Indeed, we are scientists too!

And...Lilly is a tennis ball scientist!  Lilly says "Hi!"
"Woof, woof!"
Have a great evening everyone.  Mr. Hamer OCT

We love Halloween.

Lots of orange...

...and black.

The students...

...are getting excited...

...for tomorrow...

...because of our Halloween Dance!

Our class is leading the race at the moment (per student).

Sometimes we meditate...

...at our desks.

Some more orange.
(She is reciting her "Day of Birth" poem.)

The children are hard at work...

...solving a Halloween worksheet...

...on Anagrams.

They were able to unscramble select words...

...to determine which Halloween themed word each anagram represented.

When done the sheet...

...the children coloured the pumpkins.

Mr. Hamer...

...spotted...

...these interesting Halloween...

...artifacts...

...while on a walk down the hall.

Then he headed into the gym...

...to find...

...some more...

...interesting...

...Halloween artifacts.

In class we had an inclement recess...

...where some children built these intriguing creatures.

So-o-o...

...keep those funds coming in.

Here is the cake the Hamer family baked for the fundraiser...

...as our contribution to the "Cake Raffle."

Let's hope one of the students from our class wins a cake!
Have a peaceful evening tonight ahead of tomorrow's spooky evening!
Mr. Hamer OCT

Halloween morning...

...and we have a few...

...visitors to our class...

...who leave us with some secret messages.

The staff gathers...

...in costume...

...in the lobby...

...for a group picture...

...as we are all dressed up...

...with nowhere to go.

But...

...we are having fun...

...as we gather...

...and get a big kick...

...out of the many funny costumes...

...which abound...

...on staff.

We're too big of a group...

...so we depart the lobby...

...and head into the gym...

...for a group photo there.

Yes, we are a crazy but fun bunch of educators!
Happy Halloween everyone.  Check in later for pics from our class!

Little spooks and spookettes are found walking through the corridors of the school.

Indeed, they all took turns visiting the various classes.

Meahwhile, the morning bell has just rung...

...and we have arrived school...

...all dressed up...

...in our amazing costumes.

Great face painting here!

Love the dress!

Mme Pepe is a soccer ball!

We begin to gather at carpet...

...with our classmates...

...where bright colours dominate the scene.

Love the shirt.

She's assured us that she's a friendly witch!

A lovely clown.

He flew in from outer space.

Cool costume.

A little leopard.

Indeed.

Luigi!

Love it.

It's a pair of...

...zombie cheerleaders!

A cool looking couple.

Spooky shirt!

Don't get pulled over by him!

Pretty!

Lovely lasses.

We're ready to learn.

Skeleton man.

Little Miss Unicorn...

...with matching dress and flowered horn!

We gather for the morning prayers and announcements.

When we sing the national anthem, we also sign it.

We read the second and third paragraph from Lilly's message of the day.

A wonderful class...

...with wonderful pupils!
I will post more Halloween related images in next week's posting!
All the best, Mr. Hamer OCT
