Today in History

On this day in history, June 25, 2020...

...Mr. Hamer woke up to find...

...this wonderful friend in his front garden...

...because...

...Mr. Hamer enjoyed his last day of teaching...

...following a 40 year career...

...working with some of the greatest students...

...any teacher could want to have!
I feel so blessed to have had this wonderful class for my final year of teaching!

Student Sharing

Still some more great looking pictures coming in for our "Student Sharing" segment!
This lovely young lady got to do some "funky" things to her hair shortly after the school closure time...

...and it stayed looking like this for two full weeks!  Bravo!

Our young friend has basically lived in the family pool since the weather warmed up...even just a little bit!  Here she is with her younger sister.

It's trampoline nap time!

Teaching little sister the etiquette of the trampoline!
Thanks so much for sharing these great photos, S.G-S.

This young lad came across a turtle recently.  That's very impressive!  Thanks for sharing I.Z.

One of our young classmates has been having fun drawing during the past little while.

She has been studying the art of drawing on-line.

Wow, she is doing fine research...

...because her drawings looks great!

Creative...

...and colourful too.

Keep up the fine work over the summer!

Some more of our class activities!

Thanks so much for sharing G.M.

Home Visits

Mr. Hamer and Mrs. Hamer had so much fun visiting our Grade Two families today.
Happy Birthday to this handsome young lad!

It was such a joy seeing the students.

Fun to see family members as well.

Lots of smiles.

The students are proud of their work.

Inside the bag was their "Class Memory" book...

...and their student binder of work...plus a lovely puppy dog at this home!

Not to forget to mention the coloured fish!

Love the welcome mat!

Sisters...

...along with kitty cat.

Love the kitty cat footprints in the concrete!

Some pupils showed Mr. Hamer their crafts they had been working on.

Yes, you need that hat when you are out in the sun!

There was even a bookmark in each bag.

Lovely happy smiles!

Mom and daughter love!

So wonderful.

Happiness abounds...

...in all of our homes!

I know all the students will enjoy a wonderful summer break...

...with no more "distance learning" to worry about.
Yabba dabba doo!

Wonderful friends...

...with friendly smiles.

Mom and daughter...

...and the whole wonderful family.

Sister act!

Looking good...

...with a great big smile!

Ditto for this young lad...

...with big brother who is so proud.

Proud mom...

...with lovely daughter!
Enjoy the memories everyone!

A Glimpse of Canada

We finish our tour across Canada by visiting the territory of Nunavut.

It is the large blue area to the north or top of the map.

Nunavut came into being on April 1. 1999.

It was originally part of the Northwest Territories.

Just like our other two territories, you can see the northern lights when you are in Nunavut.

You'll find plenty of icebergs here too...

...like the ones in these two pictures.

Iqualuit is the capital of Nunavut.

There are many bright coloured buildings in the north.

Check out the glacier off in the distance from this settlement.

It is dark for about half the year and light for the other half.

Dog teams come in handy up here.

Tourists come to hike in the north.

Summer time...

...and winter.

You'll find some amazing wildlife in Nunavut like these walruses.

Or how about these polar bears?

They usually stay on their own.

Inukshuks dot the landscape up here.

Check out the sun either rising or setting between the stone legs of this Inukshuk.

Inukshuks are used for navigation.

This means that they help to guide the people along the way when they are travelling in the wide open barrens.

Inukshuks also serve another very important role.

Many are used as burial sites for people.

If you wish to visit Nunavut, you can fly Canadian North Airlines...the plane with the polar bear on its tail.  This is a Boeing 737 flying between Ottawa and Iqualuit.

We have finished our great tour across Canada.  There is so much more to learn than what Mr. Hamer showed you, but he hopes to have inspired you to one day travel throughout this amazing country of ours!

Well folks, that's a wrap!  It's been a great, yet very strange school year.  I wish to take this time to thank all of my students and their wonderful families.  I feel so blessed to have had you all in my life for this final year of my career.  I'll be back in the fall to volunteer and I'll be sure to say "hi" when I see you again!

All the best,  Mr. Hamer OCT
