Thursday, April 23

Entry for Thursday, April 23

Ahhhh...you've got to love this image of Mickey and Minnie.
They love Thursdays!

So does this funny character!

Today In History

The fourth Thursday of the fourth month is our annual...

...Take Your Daughter or Son to Work Day!

Indeed, they must come prepared.

I do imagine that for this year, things may be just a little different, but we'll adapt.

Do you recognize this fellow?

Probably not.

For, he lived a long time ago.

It was on this day, April 23rd  in history that the famous William Shakespeare passed away in the year 1616.

William Shakespeare is known to be the world's most famous writer, poet and playwright.
Ask an adult to tell you the names of a couple of stories he wrote!

Math Learning

Yes, each "fact family" contains four equations.
Watch the video below on Fact Families for multiplication and division.

Fact Families Video

Your Learning Task

Complete the fact families for the five groups above.
Remember, when you multiply, your equation ends with the largest number.
When you divide, your equation begins with the largest number.

Language Learning

Check out the story book below which showcases a classroom with their students inviting parents into the class to talk about the work they do.

Video Read-Aloud On Careers Our Parents May Have

That was interesting to see about the jobs moms and dads do.  There are many more jobs than that!  Your mom and dad may do a totally different job.
Always take the time each day to tell your parents how much you appreciate the hard work they do for you!

Your Learning Task

Today we will review verbs.
They are action words.
Look at the chart below.  It shows three actions.
These are all verbs.

Language Learning Task

Copy the following four sentences down on your paper.
Remember on Monday when we read the two stories about dogs?  These are all sentences about how dogs behave.
Underline and boldface the two verbs in each sentence.
(Mr. Hamer is using sentence #1 as an example.)

                              1.  Dogs love chewing  and sniffing stuffed animals.
                              2.  Dogs run and dig in your backyard.
                              3.  That dog jumps and barks so loud.
                              4.  Mr. Hamer's puppy, Lilly, walked and played with him yesterday.

What joy it is to see animals assisting people!

Indeed, their service is greatly appreciated!

French Learning

Mme has asked that you continue reading your French story Le Chat and to keep working on your activities from earlier in the week.

Student Sharing

It is so nice receiving great quality work from our students and they love having their efforts showcased in the blog.  Keep those images coming!  Mr. Hamer

Some lovely looking division work using the other dividing format.
Looks great G.M.

What a fine example of fact families drawn in the houses!

A wonderful descriptive paragraph on Earth Day with lots of ideas of how we can be a good shepherd to our home planet.

Wow! Wee!  Love that peacock.
You are such a talented artist, A.D.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful work!

Such wonderful French work as well as verb identification in sentences.
Superb quality printing as well.

Not to mention some great division equations!
Thanks C.C. for sharing!

Here is a prayer for all workers as they begin each work day.
Stay safe if you are at home and stay safe if you must go to work.
All the best,
Mr. Hamer OCT
