Week Fourteen of School

We enter the month of December in the season of Advent.
This image is the first plate from our special Advent ceremony in the gym as designed by Mr. Hamer and Mrs. Eaton.

Indeed...November of 2019 is in the past...

...and December is just beginning.

We wait in joyful hope...

...in Advent...

...for the coming of Jesus.

In class, we created these beautiful Christmas ornaments out of used Christmas cards.

You start with a card.

Using an old concentrated orange juice container lid...

...we trace out the circular images we desire.

Sometimes you can get two or even three or four images from a single card.

Scissors aid in the process...

...as you cut around the circle.

This young lass is picking some circles...

...from the bucket.

Looking good.

Twenty are required for the ornament.

He's a happy camper...

...as he has chosen his twenty circles.

A triangle cardboard acts as a great device for folding the edges evenly.

Looking good.

Ten folded circles are placed in a row.

Then they are stapled together.

Five more go on top.

Later, we will tip it over and add the remaining five to the other side.

Teamwork.  Aya is trying her hand at making one!

Looks great!

More pupils get in on the action.

The finished product...

...is a wonderful...

Christmas ornament.

Proud ornament creators...

...abound...

...throughout the classroom.

Brilliant.

Fantastic.

Lovely.

Half of the students completed their ornaments in the first day...with more to be made later throughout the week.

Check out the lights!

Cool!

We've got a Christmas tree in the room.

Awesome!
Have a great evening everyone!

Our prayer table...

...illustrates the first week of Advent.

A cool looking sandwich during snack time!  Bravo!

A Rubik's Cube star.

Stretching...

...in preparation...

...for play in gym class.

When the boys play...

...the girls wait their turn for their shift on the bench...and vice versa!

Same name...different spelling.

A book with both of their names.

More craft fun...

...as she searches out twenty Christmas card circles.

Still searching.

Colourful art...

...in the creation of a stained glass...

Christmas tree.

Looking good.

Concentration.

Taking time...

...to do good quality work.

It's coming along nicely!

We sign and sign...

...our national anthem.

Our class gathers with Mrs. Eaton's class and Mrs. Roche's class.

We rehearse our songs for our Christmas pageant.

A book with her name.

Ditto.

Garden art!

Our Christmas bells.

Time for the book fair...

...in the learning commons.

Lots to select from.

Some bargains.

Many different themes.

Excitement for shopping!

Mrs. Avilla covers the ground rules.

We listen attentively.

A nice theme.

Poster fun.

Posters of sports.

Lots of poster topics.

Which one would you purchase?

He's a...

...hockey fan.

An exciting purchase.

Eager shoppers.

What to choose...

Yes,,,what to choose.

We continue to look around.

Checking out our items.

They have finished buying.

Back in the classroom...

...we are assigned our particular bells...

...as we learn...

...three songs.

Some more of our Christmas ornaments take shape.

She loves hers.

As does she.

Ditto.

Ditto again.

Check it out!

So cool.

Hard at work.

Some fun pattern work.

We use the SmartBoard...

...to play a Christmas concentration game in teams.

Magnet fun play.

A brilliant design.

Computer fun.

Say, it's coming along nicely.

Looks pretty.

Teamwork.

Indeed.

After school, Mr. Hamer begins painting a Christmas tree as part of our classroom door project...more on that next week!

Our Christmas food donation drive is coming along nicely.

This young lad brought in a treat for the entire class.  Wow!  All the children were heard to say.  Thank you so much to this young lad and his family!
More pics from this week will be shared next week!
All the best, Mr. Hamer OCT
